Picked this up at a yard sale today. Looks like it was once probably one of those supposedly therapeutic high intensity UV lamps of the period. Very solid well made device with a thick brass support pole and aluminum shielded bulb socket. 2 heavy transformers in the base have been bypassed and the switch was wired directly to turn off and on only the light socket to use as a common floor lamp. There are no ID markings anywhere and I can't find any other examples of it on a web search for like devices.
This looks like a medical/dental exam lamp. The switch at the base would allow the doctor to turn on and off with the foot. The transformers or ballasts were for some kind of high intensity discharge lamp. It is in great shape for it's age and great for industrial style decor.
