This vase from Savers is kind of an odd duck. It's a mixture of the mundane and the exceptional. The mundane is that the body is obviously made in a mold and there are seams down both sides. The exceptional is the color. A beautiful iridescent azure blue with overtones of purple. The blue color floats in the clear glass like rinsing out a watercolor brush in water. Kind of a smoky swirl effect. You can see it in the handles, which is the other thing. They are applied and not part of the mold. It stands 9 1/2" tall and is 7 1/2" across the handles. I think it's fairly old as well. It has a nice wear ring around the bottom and zero damage. No pontil though just a smooth bottom with a couple air bubbles. No clue as to the maker. I've seen this ribbed pattern referred to as a beehive style. So there you have it.... any ideas ?? -Mike-
No ideas, but it is really lovely.
Thanks so much sklo :).... it does have a certain Deco flair to it which I really love.
Thank you Ken :)... I try, not always easy though and space is at a premium. I've cut way back, Trust me...lol.
I'd love to leave things to all my CW friends but that would be almost impossible since we all live to far away from each other. The shipping alone.....they really need to perfect molecular teleportation. :)
Beautiful piece mike, well done,
BTW we could ask Scottie if he was CW member about teleportation, he was a great specialist with the Enterprise, LOL
