Hi
Everyone.
I really love everything from Inuit or Eskimo, well i believe the reason could be because my wife have direct blood line with them on the north side of the St -Lawrence River, they being there long time before white settlement establish colony's in north America.
In my travel to find treasure at thrift stores, i found many Soapstone carving and Mask from native American tribe, last month i was at value village looking around and i found 2 carving from Inuit or Eskimo tribe, this is the first one, depicted an Arctic phoque carve in one piece of stone, this certainly made by someone with lot of talent, some mark under the piece, but it's hard to read, this have quite of aging and wear, also i don't believe this was a tourist piece.
This carving is 5.50 inch long, 3 inch tall, 2 inch wide.
Thanks for Viewing.
