Today I am happy to share with you my newly arrived Loetz Silberiris in Candia glass. It has an amazing golden iridescence. This vase was unidentified when I purchased it, but in going through my CD from Loetz: Bohemian Glass 1880-1940, I was pleased to find the pattern - PN 2/561, dated 1902. The only other example of this form that I was able to find is shown on the old Loetz.com site, also in Silberiris Candia. It is a very nice size - just under 7-1/2" tall to the top of the handles.
A truly beautiful vase, Michelle, so elegant! But then the handles are such fun......
Hi, Michelle - beautiful vase - a couple of notes - the decor is "Candia silberiris" (vs. Candida) and the word on the drawing is actually "aufgetrieben", which refers to the fire-polished rim.
Striking vase Michelle!! Love the handles!
Peggy, thank you! The handles give it a lot of personality, I think! :)
Great find my friend!!
Oops - thanks, Warren! I have a hard time reading the words on some of the patterns; I thought I had this one down. I just looked up translations for "aufgetrieben" which apparently means distended or swollen - I guess that is a pretty good description of the shape of the rounded rim after fire-polishing. Thanks again! :)
Rick, thanks so much! I do, too! :)
Thanks, Lee! I am glad you like it! :)
Great piece Michelle!
Thank you, Kyle! :)
Just wonderful and your photos show it off beautifully....:-)
inky, thank you - I am so glad you think so. I was so very lucky to get this one; the next one will be yours!! :)
OMG. It's divine.
Fran, thank you so much! :)
