Hey Friends, This is my Coke Light Box Sign. It's large at over 5ft long and heavy. It looks ok this way, but with a light behind it, terrible! It's painted from the inside and it's cracking up. The painted face is plastic. When lighted you can see all the problems with this old paint job. You'll also see any touch ups. Any thoughts with a restoration on this one?Being that it's a light sign, I want to use it for that purpose. This is a whole different ball game from the typical Rusted / Patina, aged signs.
Thanks
I wouldn't touch up.
Yeah, strip and repaint seems like a tall order, but if done right I bet it would like dynamite. Translucent paint, I guess. Still looks good "as is".
I touched up the bottom right side today. It looks great in day light. Cleaned right up. Shine a light behind it and, not so good at all. No major harm done Edisonfan.
Hey Daddy, what would I use to strip down the 50 + year paint on this plastic? That sounds like the best way to go, but the thought of damaging the plastic is very scary.
Not sure RTS, but there are specialty products and recommendations on line. Good luck.
Welcome to CW:)
Well Thanks Trey! I'm having some fun with it. Check out my new listing for the Creepy Halloween Coke Sign. What do ya think?
