I bought this compact a while back, at first I was disappointed with it, but now it has began to grow on me. There are no marks, I tested it for silver and it's 800.
It comprises of two pressed discs, the back one is decorated with machine turning. These would have orignally contained the power and the mirror.
The front has an additional pressed plate, with floral and leave designs, the original pressing has been hand decorated with wire work, berries and 8 green cabochon stone or glass, I'm not sure, they are set in a bezel surround. I'm not sure of were it was made, could be India, if anybody has any ideas that would be great.
It is 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick
Many thanks for looking
It's such a lovely case, the work and the jewels are very beautiful. :)
Lovely no matter where made.
Totally agree with racer4four. Very, very nice indeed.
Many thanks, katherinescollections, karen and Gillian for leaving great comments.:-)

You are right about it possibly being from India. I meant to say Victorian era from India.
That's could well be right robin, I think I'll have to do little bit more research. Thanks for your comment.
Many thanks
