Bought this at a local sale. To date nobody can ID it. Looks like a Merc Ford or similar 1946 style car. All die cast chrome, steel wheels and caps. Close to 1/25th scale. Driver side has 2 tiny holes between the door handles at the B pillar, almost to believe it was attached to an award to a car dealer. Been to many toy shows and even the best dealers had no clue but offered to buy it at some pretty big numbers. Anyone out there recognise the car or mark inside? Thanks for the time. *****UPDATE: Car has been ID'd it is a early 1946 Ford promo made by AMT one of the first promos they made. Master Craft made the 47 in a 2 door style.
hello-i thought i was the omly one who had one of these. mine is not chrome. it is painted gray, but has chrome plated trim and windows. we need to keep doing research. it is not amt. that mark inside is german. and why doesn't it have any headlights. it is a 48 ford, compare the 2 chrome strips on the trunk with a real 48 ford. Great Diecast. Time to put it under glass. Awesome.
Got the facts from an expert recently on this car. It is a Swedish model produced by a toy company in Sweden. They ran the die just once with the car with no headlights and other small trim. They sold the dies to AMT and Amt changed the dies to add their own details like headlights. They then produced their first promo in 1946 with this Ford, the rest is history.
