      Nice pair HO2,
Not sure who made them, looks like an importers stamp. Question is the red stamp a wax stamp or permanent?

Those are collectible though because they are not mirror image of each other. While the scene is the same the art is different. So they seem hand painted from the pictures, but are probably a combination of both stencil and hand painted enamels.

This non-mirror process makes them more desirable because the creation was more difficult to control, i.e. pieces had to be tracked and followed all along their creation to keep them together. Very nice, nice find.

thank you Artistinside! interesting... i think that they are mirror images of each other. i should have studied the images a little before taking their photos, because it's obvious that they are meant to be together w/ the curtains on the outside of each one. i really didn't expect them to be anything special and i didn't pay more than a few dollars for them at Goodwill. i believe that the red markings on the bottoms are permanent and not wax.

      Dear HO2,
Please note, there are many differences in the painting of the vase, so that makes them non-mirror, and more collectible than mirror image vases which are more common. Let me know if that is not clear. But you need to look very closely at one part and compare it to the same part of the other vase, then you will see obvious differences. Respectfully, Kirk

Dear HO2, they are really a remarkable pair of vases, if you look at the inscription on the side in Chinese, even the characters are different, that is very nice.
      Regards, Kirk

you're right Kirk! i hadn't noticed, but the heads are different sizes on the different vases and a few other differences. i hadn't noticed that! thank you!

ditto for the scrolls on the tables, the tree trunks, etc...

      Yes HO2,
The more you look at them, the more you realize how special those are. I would be please to make such a find. This one of my areas, so I find you did very well. Regards, Kirk

thanks again kirk! you've made my day. i really didn't think all that much of them, but i see their inherent beauty now, thanks to your comments.
    12. ho2cultcha ho2cultcha, 9 years ago
i just added a better quality pic of the two together. you can compare them to see the differences better now.

      Well HO2,
I was my pleasure to assist with your joy, as it is such a nice find. Especially when you don't expect it... In my realm these pieces would be good to study to learn about the difference between levels of quality. These are a good start. Regards, Kirk

thank you Kirk. i feel as though i've learned quite a bit from these pieces already. when do you think they were produced?
    15. Artistinside Artistinside, 9 years ago
      Dear HO2,
I would have to guess that they are from later half of 20th Century. But that does not detract from the fact that they are well made, and well executed. I believe the I-Fay is the distributor's name. They are very nice. Congrats. Regards, Kirk
