I found this at Goodwill yesterday for $2. I was [am] very excited about it. It's in excellent condition for chalkware - just missing a few paintchips here and there. I read that vintage/antique chalkware is one of the only antiques where the value is not affected negatively if the paint is restored [well executed, of course!]. i want to find someone who can professionally restore the paint which has chipped away on her. isn't this a cool find?! esp. for $2!
She's FABULOUS !!!!!!
So cheeky !!!
I agree with Kevin shes is fabulous!!
me too!!! i'm very happy w/ this beauty!
Ho2, you knew this would get my attention & just waiting! LOL!! Been trapped again!
i hope i got it w/ my last comment after your last comment too!
well, previous to last comment...
What a gal!
MMmmmm I envy the original painter because they would have had to study the subject for hours! And who wouldn't want to study Rita. Howard Hughes had a bra made for her for a film she appeared in.
does anyone know of when she wore this kind of crinoline and flamenco skirt? and bra? it seems kind of earlier - maybe 1935-38?
this piece is from the 1945 movie Gilda, and is exactly where Johnny Farrel [Glen Ford] says ' Gilda, are you decent?' and her head pops up and fills the screen. it was shot twice, w/ different clothes. this would have been the fantasy third version.
She's a beauty..... :)
What a great find ! love her
thank you mikelv85 and Manikin!
i know valentino97! i couldn't believe my luck until after i got it home and looked at it for awhile. the goodwill near me has almost entirely junk for sale - and useful household things which move well, but if you go often and scan everything, you can occasionally get some great stuff there.

thank you Rattletrap! i agree!
I'm getting into chalkware like this (I think)....likely just the nice girl pose ones like yours as criteria though having just bought one myself. I couldn't resist buying a 1930's well dressed young Aristocrat lady walking her 2 hounds on leash with a puppy following. It's in exceptional condition .The man that sold it to me claimed he was 5th generation on the property he held this yard sale on and that it was his Grandma's. I'll post it one day soon.
that sounds like a cool one Collector!
