Hi there. Another Family item. My Dad DID serve in WW2 for the RCAF. I am not sure IF this is one of his pins he got, or what year/war it is from. I am assuming it was my Dads as it was in my Mom jewelry box. Both Mom and Dad ( + RIP + ) so I can ask. I know it is for Canada / Canadian with the Maple leaf -- but what about the rest of it? Looks like the *LION PASSANT* on the one to the left......For England? England & Canada -- and the middle badge?

So I am reaching out to CW members to know the:

    ~ History
    ~ Year
    ~ Which War?
~ What the logo mean - the 3 of them?
~ anything else you can tell me

    Thanks as always

    ;-)

      Hi Antiquerose,

Please excuse an American for venturing an opinion into what he thinks is pure Canadiana

The crowns are designed like Victorian crowns, which may be just the jeweler's whim, but he/she was certainly working from that reference. The shield in the middle looks very much like some of the really complicated coat of arms on some of the unofficial versions of the old Canadian Red Ensign. Check out the image on this page:

      http://www.victorianwars.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3431

That leave the left shield, and without further research I'd speculate it's an old provincial coat of arms of Quebec, although slightly different from current

I agree with Chris. My grandfather was in ww2 and my grandmother had a few pins from him and that era. She once told me that hr called his an "identifying badge". It had his military unit ie marines or army, squad number, and country of origin. I din't know if that is what yours is but thank you for sharing it. Such history is lost today becsuse peopke simply don't care.

Center: Dominion shield (take a look here ans scroll down)
      http://heraldicscienceheraldique.com/chapter-ii-taking-a-closer-look.html
      Right: maple leaf, ofcourse
Left: Quebec coat of arms. two Fleurs de Lis on gold, granted 1868 and used until 1939 when replaced by three gold Fleurs de Lis on blue (azure).
So, it was made before 1939 and has nothing to do with military.Possibly even Victorian because of Queen`s crown which differs from King`s crown of both George V and VI.
      Patriotic souvenir badge.
