inky
(228 items)
I would like to share a couple of my favourites vases that I have had for a while and which I sit and look at everyday.... a beautiful pair of 12 inch... c1885 black glass Harrach vases.
I remembering when I received them and took them out of the wrapping paper, they brought a tear to my eye because!.. when I bid and won them I had no! idea the enameling (which is outlined in gold) was going to be as thick! and as beautiful as it is......they both stand 12 inches tall so an impressive size 'to boot'...
The quality is just wonderful and the colours bright and bold, I love the simplicity of the enameling on the back after the busy front...also because the daisy is one of my favourite flowers.
I am not sure if you would call them a true pair as one has a Swallow the other a Kingfisher and different flowers and foliage....if someone could tell me..:-)
Although a glossy jet black, if held up and only! seen though the vase to the base, it is a very dark purple.
Thank you for looking and hope you like them!...:-)
Lovely vases!
Thank you very! much yesterdaysglass!...they really are!...:-)
Hello Ernie...and thank you...:-)
Yes indeed that enamelling is fab!
What a pair of beauties!
I think it is a true pair, very influenced by Japanese decor :-)
Just gorgeous, inky! I love the style of enamel work on these; the gold outlines make it feel almost like cloisonne, and the enameling is so beautiful. I'd be thrilled to look at them everyday! :)
They are a luscious garden all on their own :-)
Beautiful inky!! I would be pleased that they were different, you have the pleasure of two collections of lovely flowers and two exquisite birds!!
an oustanding pair, the glass is so glossy also
Beautiful enamel work Inky! The upside to them being decorated differently is, after looking at one for a while, you can go to the other and start anew lol.
I would call them a true pair. Who wants two exactly the same or in mirror image anyway?
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just breathtaking and the whole thing about this is speechless!!
Many thanks racer4four!...:-)

Michelleb007... thank you, and yes! you are right it does resemble cloisonne maybe because it has that Japanese influence of that time, it is exactly what it is meant to resemble..never thought of that...thank you!....:-)

Justanovice...thank you!..I am pleased they are different and I don't tier at looking at them.....;-)
