These were given to me to start a WW1 collection. Don't yet know what they are. They're in remarkable condition for their age. The fur-backed one opens up and seems to be a field backpack of some sort, with various pockets inside. I have another , similar leather one, but haven't cleaned it up yet. Any help with backgroúnd info would be most welcome.
Maybe WWII, Google Pony Fur backpack. Along the lines of a German M34, circa 1939.

Sorry I took so long in answering, but I had to find my copy of "Field Equipment of the infantry 1914-1945" by Robert Fisch.
Your pack most closely resembles the WWII German Model 1934 pack. Brown cowhide flap, olive green canvas interior, hardware in steel and aluminum, black leather blanket roll straps on the outside. 12” high, 11 ¼” wide, 4” deep.
