    Hello I was wondering if anyone could point me in a dirrection as to the year or style of this trunk. It has leather straps and hand made nails. Looks like maybe pine.

      Such a beautiful trunk! Depending on how far back in your family this trunk existed, it could be early 1800s. It just has that kind of look to it.

      Yes -- an early 1800's -- maybe 1810 t0 1830 or so document box. (by the size of it) Would have originally been hide or canvas covered. I have a similar one with a dated newspaper that helps give a general sense of time of construction of these...

      you can see that the handles are the same as yours. These are more small trunks and less document boxes as they are a bit bigger... hope this helps...
