Blue Enamelware Wire Mesh Strainer

Enamelware is Graniteware without the speckles, swirls and so on. Just solid colors. This one is blue on the outside, white on the inside and black trim.
It has a 7" handle, 5" across at the mouth and 3" across at the strainer end. The strainer is a fine wire mesh as noted in the title.
There is a clip on one end the purpose for which I am not sure. My guess is that it is to clip on the side of a pot/pan.
Not sure about the age of this piece seems fairly old.
