    Can't find comparables on either, especially with regard to shape. Elephant is about 3" tall, 4" long, 2" wide. Jar with lid 4" tall, 3 3/4" lid diameter ... not marked. Wonder: Chinese, Japanese or --? Circa?

      My guess would be chinese...could the elefant be a calligrapher's brush holder / inkwell?
