I just completed restoration of this lovely French made gentleman's hat trunk. I believe this to have been manufactured by a Parisian trunk manufacturer called Bertrand. It was manufactured around the late 1800's to very early 1900's. Though it's not a Louie or a Goyard, it's still very nice. (Those are still on my bucket list).
It's made of very high quality leather and beautiful brass hardware. I was very thrilled to see how the leather and interior are still in such incredible condition. Though the lid holder is broken and a few components from the interior missing, it's still not bad for 100+ years of age. (I'll have to post the interior pics as well).
This trunk still bears the initials H.S. of the original owner on the front. On one side of the trunk there is one of the original travel decals from Paris. And one of the best parts is that it still has it's original key and the lock still works quite well!!
Most Parisian made trunks were of extreme high quality and built to last for generations. This is just another example of that fine craftsmanship.
Thanks for looking!!

Manikin, Thanks so much for the love and for stopping by. Always appreciated!!
What a beautifully crafted piece this is -- reminiscent of features found on Louis Vuitton... and just as well made. The dark leather combined with the brass is stellar -- oh la la...
Thank you T-man!! I sort of thought this might appeal to you. I agree that it does have very reminiscent features of the LV, but unfortunately, not an LV.

Great trunk, beautifully restored. Karen
Great trunk craftsmanship is superb.
Wish I could restore things ... What a feeling that must be ...
Karen,
Thank you for the kind comment. This one was quite easy. You'd be surprised what you can do with a little glycerin saddle soap, leather conditioner and steel wool:))

Eye, thank you for the kind comment. I feel certain that you could do this. I figure if I can do it, anyone can:) It is a great feeling to bring something like this back to life, so that it can be enjoyed by others in the years to come.

I have still to find one of these. Love the look
JonB, Thank you!! They are really hard to come by. Wealthy persons' estate sales seem to be the best bet. Otherwise, I've not had much luck locating these anywhere else without paying a small fortune. Thanks for stopping by. Always appreciated!!
