My great great grandfather Nels Anderson immigrated from Sweden to Minnestoa in the early 1890s. This is a postcard addressed to him from the pastor of the first Lutheran Church built in his town of settlement, Wilmar, MN. It is dated Oktober 15, 1909. The top says: "Tripolis Lutheran church forty years solid June 16-17 1909." Down the side it says: Milestones, Foundation 1868, Inkorp'es (wasn't able to translate that word) 1869, Log Church '71, Prasthus 1878 (wasn't able to find that either) New Church 1880, School room 1895, Gallery 1896, Pipe Organ 1898, 30 years solid 1899, Chapel at the Station 1905, New Prasthus 1908, 40 years solid 1909. My great grandmother and her sisters grew up in this church and were all confirmed here. The other side is the personal message from the pastor. Not only can't I read it because it's in swedish, I can't even read the writing! It was definitely an art form back then!
