this is a beauty - I know the inside lining doesn't really go with the period but it is functional and fresh. Great condition on the outside.
another brass bound civil war era trunk - very cool | ||

Well, - I'm impressed!
Oh, I truly love the old embossed leather covered trunks and this one is just BEAUTIFUL!!! And, is that a zinc covered bottom I see? Incredible!!!
This is a beautiful trunk! I have one similar in design, size and sloping front - but it would be the "b" version of this "A" trunk. I do not see alot of brass banding outside of the Jenny Lind style... so a very nice find indeed. Good eye scott --it does look like zinc on the bottom...
thank you fellow trunk aficionados - wishing I had a little more room in the house to keep these special trunks.
I must say that my favorite part of this trunk is the front slat. When do you ever see,Tiger stripe grain on a slat ,(most times maple, poplar,or birch woods are the
ones that show these characteristics). Grain patterns like that on a front slat,---hardly ever!
That seems to be a common problem around here. LOL Pretty little trunk.
