The blade is engraved on both sides, interesting designs. One side is of a sun shinning and crashing wave with a small snail in the foreground. The other side is a mermaid and fish. The face of the mermaid has an interesting authentic look. There is also an engraving on both sides. The side with the mermaid has 3 letters or symbols on the right side of the base. Looks like QOD. The sun side has what looks like RJ on the left side of the base. Not sure of the type of wood that the handle is made of, but the gold parts appear to be brass. Just looking for any info regarding the maker, meaning of the symbols, and what it might have been used for.

im really liking this thing. its got some history to it. and ill bet it aint cheap..
