For those of the CW peeps who fish, maybe they can tell me something about this reel, I can't seem to find it online. It belonged to my brother and has been in storage since at least the early 70s, I think? You can see it's dusty and grimy, though I don't see any rust or corrosion on it. Attached to a broken Buccaneer rod if that helps any. Where is a good fishing reel expert or link to a page, if anyone knows? Thanks for looking.
Hi Katherine -
Could this be a Shimano MLX Fishing Reel, rather than ML2?
I've made an assumption (very unwise) and called this a Vintage MLX Shimano Reel:
https://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=vintage+shimano+MLX+fishing+reel&oe=utf-8&gfe_rd=cr&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi
Hi Gillian, thanks, all I know is what's on the reel, ML2. Shimano. Let me take a look at your link and see what's there. Thanks! :)
Gillian, the logo on the reel in two places says ML2, not MLX. So I don't think these are the same?
Darn! See how unwise it is to assume?
LOL! Thanks, it was a good guess. :) I'm hopeful someone else may know. :)
Thanks for the love, SEAN68, jscott0363, mikelv85, and vetraio50. :)
Hi Katherine,
I used one of these around 40 years ago, not certain when they came out. I still have mine but need parts to get it working. I have been looking for one..
Regards, Darren
Hello Hoojah, well I happen to know someone who owns one and can be convinced to sell it to the right buyer, lol. ;)
I also used a Shimano MLX 20 when I was young. Good little reels.
Darren
Hi Katherine,
I see we are not supposed to solicit for buy/sell but I'm very interested for sure.
My email addy is on my page, lol. Is this the same thing Shimano MLX and ML2? I am clueless as to fishing reels. I have another reel same era, may post it here as well.
Have sent a gmail message Katherine.
The MLX and the ML2 are a little bit apart. The MLX20 that Iused as a kid is very much the same as the one I have now, except my current MLX is 200 not a 20. Very similar reel though, almost identical, probably just changed the name. Only going on memory re the MLX 20 as I no longer have it or the box.
Thanks, Hoojah, I will check my email forthwith! :)
