I just added this very unique antique doll (toy?) trunk to my collection yesterday. This one is covered in a striped canvas, which is definitely something you won't see often. Some refer to this type of trunk as "Doll Trunks" or "Toy Trunks". Others will refer to these trunks as "Salesman Samples". I've just always called them toy trunks or doll trunks myself.
The exterior, of this one, is nearly complete with the exception of one leather carry handle missing and a tiny flaw in the canvas on top. Slightly faded, but who's counting? This would be very expected of a doll trunk of this age.
The interior is near complete, with the exception of the fabric lid stay broken. Other than that, it's excellent. (See my next post for interior pics).
This little doll trunk would be about 125 years old. So, all things considered, it's in amazing condition.
Thank you for stopping by and admiring this little doll trunk!!

Thanks for the love and for stopping by. Much appreciated!!!
Very Nice
Interesting ,No latches or leather buckles
Could this be French or European in origin?
I had a huge 4o inch dome top with stripe canvas
which I assumed was European ,maybe not!
Love the interior ,especially when the colors are bright .
bjb5859, Since this is a toy trunk, or doll trunk, I would assume that this one is American made. Though I do see the striped covering on European trunks mainly. It's only about 14" X 12" X 9". I believe this was a higher end doll trunk. Usually you won't see brass slat clamps on these. This one has it all.
