I have one that is much, much larger that I bought in Germany in the late 60's or early 70's. Mine is also very heavy and I was told it was carved from Alabaster.

All different types of resin - so a bit difficult to make a broad statement like "resin is heavy."

so basically it not Chinese, its not bone, its not old, and it was made in Europe

limeyshak - just a piece of kitsch made somewhere in Asia for the tourist market. I see quite a few at the local flea markets here in the Netherlands.

Lol Limeyshak - I too have cancelled many great holidays before they were booked! And decided I couldn't afford the new car, or even the next nice piece of glass.
Good news is, resin or not, Buddha still smiles for you.

Ahh Budda. I've recently been eating black (purple) rice. Some sushi houses have it (add $1). I heard it has excellent cancer fighting properties. I recently learned the only reason for black rices' existence was for on Buddas' birthday. The Chinese placed rice out and about for Budda. They coloured it with plant extracts so that evil spirits would not consume it before Budda got to it.
Hope you enjoyed this Cliff Clavin moment.
