Italian, resin, some other ladies figures were posted here with same marks :-)
ITALIAN RESIN SO ITS fake not even old or Chinese
Vintage, 60'/70'.
Hope to find the others, but it was long ago :-)
Perhaps TubeAmp, great solver, will find the posts!
so is this a common modern replica piece ?? and can resin be so heavy ??
I have one that is much, much larger that I bought in Germany in the late 60's or early 70's. Mine is also very heavy and I was told it was carved from Alabaster.
All different types of resin - so a bit difficult to make a broad statement like "resin is heavy."
so basically it not Chinese, its not bone, its not old, and it was made in Europe
looks like a dollar flea market item ,and I to now have to cancel my Antiques Roadshow visit
limeyshak - just a piece of kitsch made somewhere in Asia for the tourist market. I see quite a few at the local flea markets here in the Netherlands.
thanks , cancelling my vacation to the West Indies revising it to
a quick visit to my local 7-11 store oh well cannot win them all
limeyshak - never give up hope! I've been looking through thrift shops and flea markets for 35+ years and am still not a millionaire....but I have alot of fun! :-)
Lol Limeyshak - I too have cancelled many great holidays before they were booked! And decided I couldn't afford the new car, or even the next nice piece of glass.
Good news is, resin or not, Buddha still smiles for you.
Ahh Budda. I've recently been eating black (purple) rice. Some sushi houses have it (add $1). I heard it has excellent cancer fighting properties. I recently learned the only reason for black rices' existence was for on Buddas' birthday. The Chinese placed rice out and about for Budda. They coloured it with plant extracts so that evil spirits would not consume it before Budda got to it.
Hope you enjoyed this Cliff Clavin moment.
