This bottle was a part of a case of old bottles sold at a garage sale at a bargain price. I'd like to know more about this bottle beyond what's written on it (PH. Wm Kessler Carlstadt, NJ), but there's almost nothing out there about it. I think it looks super cool, especially being that it's so incredibly beat up, it is still pretty much intact, almost declaring "I'm still standing!". It's this resilience and character that i just love about this bottle. Any more information about it is much appreciated. Thanks!

The stag head was used by so many in advertising. Very nice.

Thank you, Caperkid. Do you know what it was used for, or approx. year it was made, or anything about the company? There's so little out there about this bottle, and yet, it sounds like it's not such a rare bottle.

Anna the company started in 1868 if this helps.
    5. Caperkid, 9 years ago
Think it was soda or mineral water these bottles are not considered rare but are highly sought.

This bottle also had a Hutchinson spring stopper.

yes, thank you, Caperkid, this helps. When you say it was used by so many in advertising, can you please elaborate... what kind of advertising, or companies, or in what capacity? Thank you so much. This is very intriguing.

In general terms the stag head is used in whiskey, soda guns and ammunition, beer, insurance, etc, a very popular logo not just relating to this bottle. The elk head here is for the benevolent and protective order of elks .Founded 1868.

Exact age not sure but a good guess between 1879 and the beginning of ww1.

I'm thinking that it is a seltzer bottle from the 1910s (It has the right shape, but I've never seen one without its top.) It is missing its top as it was likely dug up. The tops almost always fall to pieces outside and in the ground (So I've read.)
I am pretty dang sure that it is not a Hutchinson bottle. The mouth is all wrong. So is the base.
