Collectoma…
(68 items)
I just bought this. I'm still a little shaky from the cleaning of it since they where dirty birds.
I as always let the item acclimatize to my room temperature, and then try to match my water temperature to match the home. In the case of rimmed items, I was told many years ago to dip the rim first, which I do.
Anyways, it's home, it's clean, it's fabulous! It appears to have been constructed upon a wine glass base, and as of yet, I can't say for sure the wings are applied. It stands 5" tall and 5.5" wide.
Wow. How has it survived? Good job cleaning it, must have been a delicate touch!
It's a fantastic sculpture, and I love the shadows it makes too.
Thanks aura, racer4four and Caperkid.......and anyone else that loves it :)
That's what I thought. I see people literally dropping off their boxes at the back door............somehow, it made it in and to the shelf.
She wanted to wrap it for me soo badly. I declined lol. I've lost several items at the checkout in the past.
WOW -- Delicate!!
I would have just sat in the bathtub and used some Windex on it to clean it ..... and then rinse it off and let it drip in the bathtub. I would be too scared to put it sink and maybe bump in on the tap. You were very Brave. Did you take a Before cleaning Pic???
Hmm. Sit in the bathtub with my glass. Sounds great. Maybe light some candles, pour some wine....Lol. Just kidding. Good idea. I've done that gasping bump in the sink before. Thanks for the advise antiquerose. Thank-you Nicefice, and thank-you mikel85 for the loves.
Wooooo hoooo! What an exquisite piece of art!!
The little old lady at the cash drawer said....You should point it South in the winter, and North in the summer. Soo sweet she was.
Thanks Efesgirl. Appreciate it. (last top post)
lol....I meant sit the item in the bath tub ( not you ). Just that way IF you have any over-spray with the windex - the bath tub walls are there. Plus you have more working space.
When I went to clean my *RainTree Lamp* -- I did that over the bath tub so it could drip as there was too many area to try to dry....LOL. Plus I used Windex too to help cut through the dirt. The raintree lamp also has mineral oil in it, and IF while I was moving it around and any of that came out of it -- it would just leak into the bathtub....and easy to clean up....LOL

Oh I get it now just how awsum that idea actually is. My windex is room temp., I spray it in the tub, and then I can use the shower head on it's hose to rinse it.
Thanks, antiquerose :)
Yup.....You got it. But something like this spray gently (holding it) -- and with warm tepid water. The tub works good for cleaning some weird shaped collectibles, or bigger items. As long as they can be in Water ... but if not.....they hang above the tub on shower curtain rod, as you have a good work space to dust or dirt to fall off into
LOL
what a cool piece! not a good one for me, but sounds perfect for you! [i'm too clutzy]
A little more research, and I think this might be a Len Chodirker creation.
Thank you everyone!! for the loves. Here is a link to Len.http://www.glassartisans.ca/artists/len-chodirker/

Say what!??! $2!??! Where'd you say you live??? I wanna go treasure hunting there!!!
Mery xmas maniac have a great holiday.
Wise to watch your temperature. For instance if you wash a paperweight in hot water it will right away crack from the inside ! Love these birds and they look so fine in flight, an oh so delicate sculpture !
