Japanese porcelain cup and saucer by Hikojiro Imura Meiji period
The maker of this cup and saucer has been Hikojiro Imura (no biographical data known )
He has been the dominating artist and most representative figure under the Yokohama Artists from 1875 onwards, together with Miyagawa Xiangshan. This wonderful cups show very delicately painted decorations of flying birds and a landcapes - on the saucer in a slightly different version of the same birds and landscape.
Cups and saucers are marked " DAI NIPPON YOKOHAMA IMURA ZO" in Japanese kanji characters (overglaze red).
Hikojiro Imura pieces are known mainly from the late Meiji period and this one is supposed to be from circa 1890 to 1900.
It is very difficult for memto say exactly, because the japanese sites I have searched to find informations about this wonderful cups and saucers, state this kind of quality pieces as mainly Meiji era (1868-1912).
Anyway some of the Hikojiro Imura piecesmseems to have been manufactured in the early Taisho period (1912-1926) as well.

this is too difficult for me , this is a Nihon - Yokohama- Imura Zo = Japan - Yokohama - made by Imura.i thought when it was subcontracted we need characters, i still believe it is meijji , because i think you possible might compare this with the oshodori scenes
