This is a lovely old valve radio from 1945. It is made of black bakelite, and was sold by E.K. Cole Limited (Ekco) in the UK. The radio was designed by Wells Coates, a modernist, who was a Canadian architect and furniture designer living in the UK. Ekco was famous for this round radio design, of which this is the last of the round radio series, where the AD65 model was the first in 1934. This is a 3 band Radio; Long, Medium, and Short Wave, and it is about 38cm (15 inches) tall. The radio is tuned via a rear lit pointer that shows the selected frequency around the white section of the radio face, and it still works beautifully today. This is a favourite in my collection.
