Close to a foot long this is a fairly large bug. There is a quarter on top of the case to show scale. It measures 9" long but is straightened out I think it would be 11" long. This would require two cans of Raid and one can of Black Flag.

It amazes what people will collect from Hissing cockroaches to Rockets. Long time ago I sold on evilbay a lab rat body bits in a case similar to yours. I was soo glad to see it go because my cat was fascinated with it. I'm gonna tick the Like tick but I don't like it! Ewwww

Too big for me to collect ;-)
    5. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
We have them that big around here but thankfully we don't often see them. Nature over designed these things. Fast, poisonous & armored!
    6. AnnaB AnnaB, 9 years ago
Close to a foot long?! i've only seen them no bigger than 3"...is this one from Chernobyl?
    7. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Anna, I've seen them in Jamaica & here in St. Maarten, 11"+. Hate them!
    8. AnnaB AnnaB, 9 years ago
      I don't blame you!

I did hit a Luv or Like because I hate them!
    18. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Oops! Should have been "didn't" hit. Lot of people here same ones they kill in a jar of alcohol & claim if bitten, the marinated alcohol relieves the pain.
    19. fortapache fortapache, 9 years ago
How about just some alcohol hold the centipede.

Yikes!!!! I hate those guys!! We have lots of them in Kauai and they bite like a Rattlesnake and u feel the poison go up your arm/leg and gradually spread thru your nerves! It's a very nasty sci-fi experience I never want to repeat! Those guys are Dinasaurs that didn't get destroyed but should have!!! Extinction can't come soon enough!! I can't imagine one that big? That's huge!
    26. akrodog akrodog, 9 years ago
I think Raid and Black Flag would just piss this thing off. I'm reaching for the 12 gauge!
      MERRY CHRISTMAS!
    27. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Akrodog has the right idea. Had one about 10" long on my gravel drive in Mo Bay & drove over it twice without appearing to hurt it. Put the rear tire on it spun it & it finally died. Boric acid powder sprinkled under & around the house kills them.

When I was in Nam in 65 One of these type of buggers was under our Hooch.
The of the Vietnamese boys pulled out a rat trap from under our hooch and this bugger was with the dead rat the size of a cat!!! That was the only time I saw them afraid of something!!! He Lum Day De Ded Moued out of there pretty quick. I don't know if I spelled it Right.
But I was right behind Him!!!!!

quite a few years ago, my sister was scuba diving in Antigua and one morning she put on her scuba boots and one of these was inside and bit her foot repeatedly. she was rushed by helicopter to a hospital where she made a full recovery. she checks her scuba boots before putting them on now!

Been shot & been bitten by a centipede. Intensity & pain were very similar.
