The Freight Train was the #1 gas dragster and the Odd Couple the #2. The Odd Couple seen in the b/w photo featured a large block Chrysler hemi coupled with a small block Chevy. Oddly enough for the Odd Couple the hemi had to be replaced every 6 months while the Chevy small block lasted about 3 years.
The Freight Train started with 2 small block Chevy engines and ended up with two large block Chryslers. I think this one is the Chrysler version.
Sadly the era of the dual engine dragsters came to an end in 1972 when they were relegated to bracket racing.
The Odd Couple photo is from the Stonewood Shopping Center about 1970 and I took the Freight Train photos at the Wally Parks NHRA Museum.
Wait just a minute here. The Freight Train is sporting a pair of small block Chevys here. My bad.
Did they blow these too?
Thank you very much racer4four. They are indeed blown.
And thank you very much Nicefice. You see the small block Chevy in a lot of hit rods.
Thank you

Ah... the good old days with exploding motor parts in front of completely insane drivers!! Gotta love the old school stuff!!
Thank you very much welzebub. They may go faster now but they were more fun then.
I agree with Nicefice....whatever he said....
Cool pics
Thank you very much Hoot. I fear Nicefice left the building but he may be back.
These guys are the reason the NHRA has a maximum of 90% nitromethane. Crazy bastards..lol
