The piece is made of wood but I don't know what kind of wood. It has a glass top which may have been added for protection.
The piece measures from its flat edge to its oval edge 160 cm
The width is 75 cm and the height is 80 cm
It was acquired about 1936 by my family in South Africa.
The photos show both sides of the table/desk.
The first has a flap down door with storage for bottles(?) The base inside is white marble and there is a small wooden ledge above with rounded notches which looks like they could have been for hanging pipes?
The second image shows the piece of furniture with the flap down door closed.
The third picture shows the front side of the piece with three drawers which when closed are hidden by a door.
The last picture is from the inside of this door that closes on the drawers.

Is waiting for someone to answer, the only way to get an 'unsolved mystery' solved?

Have you tried googling the name on the plaque...the wood is probably stained teak with maybe the trim at the top being burr walnut...

      Hi Inky
Thanks for the suggestion about Googling the name that appears on the plaque.
I tried that but didn't really find much. However I did send a message to someone who posted a message related to the name of the manufacturer. I'll let you know if I get any reply. Many thanks

I saw this too but it looks like a site that sells all sorts of stuff. I'm gonna wait to see if I get response to my earlier mail message to the conference person. Will update if I hear anything. Thanks anyway for suggestions.
