My Great Grandmother in one arm chair late 1800's for AnnaB
This was a parlor chair with one arm to allow for women's dress to fit in chair . I believe the chair pre dates the photo as she is not in a huge dress but was born in 1878 and this appears to be her at about 18 years of age . The photo has been enhanced to see chair more clear by Phil Morris.
I can tell you she had a hard life as a farmer and mother of 13 children . She died at age 50 of cancer.

Your Great Grandmother is so pretty! Her face is so calm and beautiful. I always look at old pictures trying to imagine what kind of lives they had... It's so great that you have this image of her being so young. I have one or two photos of my Great Grandma, but she is in her 50s there.

My Grandad was born in 1888 and he and granny had my father in 1944 when he was 56 and she was 40. My Grandmothers father and mother had her in 1904 and he fought in the Civil War and he died in 1932 at age 86.When I see old photos like this I immediately think of them and how it was to live then. Thanks for posting:)
