Hello Fellow Collectors. This is my Christmas present.... Probably one of the two rarest style of packaging for a Mickey Mouse watch.
In 1937, Ingersoll found after selling millions of Mickey watches, sale were beginning to decline. They decided to change construction styling and came up with this design, that coincided with Christmas release . There were 3 different models, a girl's charm bracelet with Donald and Minnie on charms and a boy's deluxe model with either a leather strap or the metal ratchet band you see here. This watch box was similar in size and shape to the blue boxes used from Christmas 1935 through 1938 for the standard Mickey watch.
Ingersoll released the new line with hopes of large sale, but turned out to be a commercial flop. Few were sold and many complaints on the number size and only 1 mouse on sub-dial made it hard to read. These watches were on the market approximately 1 year before being replace with the "New" Mickey watch with blue box and sub-dial pointes hand. I have it posted also...lol
Thanks for looking,
Kerry

Hello bratjdd, so glad to see you've been looking :-)
Thank you very much
Wow - $3.95 in 1937 would be $65.10 today. That was a dear gift in the Depression, to be sure!
$66.49 in 1938!
Totally agree Celiene, from 1933-37 the mickey watches sold $2.95....during the height of the Depression and records show they sold millions over that time frame....Just proves parents overspend for their children, even in hard times.
