On the threshold of the New Year, I would like to refer you to show at my last acquisition. More and more I come by my passion, antique jewelry, also beautiful silver objects against which this antique snuff box is an example. Made by the famous Belgian (Brussels) family Wolfers, a Brussels goldsmith dynasty that includes acting under the name Wolfers Frères (Brothers Wolfers).
This beautiful 800 silver snuff box gilded insite and a diameter of 3.3 " (8.5 cm) and 1.2" (3 cm)high, weighs 97 grams.
The marks refer to the period when three sons from this famous goldsmith family were sent to France, Germany, Netherlands and Austria to prospect for business. This box was clearly made in the period from 1868 to 1942 by presence of one of the sons worked at the firm Goldschmidt in the German City of Köln.
American collectors and specialists in silver usually know much about French, English, Austrian and German silver, but are relatively less informed about Belgian silver. That’s why I like to tell you something more abouth the highly skilled, abundantly ornamented late 19th century silver from the workshop of the Belgian silversmith Wolfers who worked which made during the Belle Epoque aims at closing that gap. Gorgeous! I know an auctioneer in the UK who would give his eyeteeth for that..he has more than 200 snuff boxes.

Hello Agram, very nice little box. I also like the marks that is very easily red, it's not often one gets such an easy way to identify things don't you agree? :) I understand that it's easy to extend your interest to other silverobjects. Elisabethan thank you for your detailed comment and love. And yes, it's easy to extend my interest to other (silver) objects. As i described years ago in my setting on CW I love what I like a lot. So also with jewelry. In the first time when I see something I have to like it than I try to get it. And I prefer silver too because it's the most fitting color with my hair and skin.
