I bought this at an estate sale. I can't find any info about it online. I think it's beautiful!! I'm wondering if this is the original lamp shade or not. Anyone know? I'd love to know it's history!

The two knobs that raise and lower the wicks have some type of ship on them. Kind of looks like a pirate ship.

If it's not electrified, don't electrify it! Some (maybe most) of us refuse to buy electrified ones. But that is great!

I won't, thank you! I like it just the way it is. :) I am scouring the web trying to find out what I've got, but to no avail!!

Have you taken the shade off (I assume you have already) and looked at the burner/taken the burner out and looked around it for a name or patent date?

I did, but I don't see anything. I don't have any knowledge of antiques....so I don't even know what I'm looking for. I haven't even had a chance to clean it up yet. I want to research that too and make sure I don't de-value it by cleaning it wrong!

Nice lamp! It's not a North American lamp. Probably of English or Continental European origin. The information you need is on the Thumbwheel for the burner. The shade was not part of this lamp......it could have had a matching, to the font pattern glass shade. It dates 1880-early 1900's. RER

Is there something caved on the rim of the base? There on the right side of the pic?

Is the base bakelite or glass? Is that a bakelite button on the thuwheel?
