This is what I call my pretentious clock as it has grand marble (onyx more likely) columns marble top and more. The marble top is actually Adamantine which is a veneer which could replicate various finishes. No relation to Wolverines claws.
The clock works although I need to get a universal key so I can wind it. It is supposed to chime on the hour and half hour but only the half hour chime works and I can live with that for now.
There may be another post to show some of the details of this clock.

It's a beauty Fort ! :).... Ebay is my go to for keys. Maybe the hour mechanism just needs to be wound although I have a clock where the spring broke off the winder shaft. It still runs though, just no hour chime like yours. You could select from three of the traditional chime melodies Westminster, Whittington, and St. Michael so beautiful but now it's silent :(

That is a BEAUTY!!! If it chimes as loudly as my mantle clock, you may not want it chime:) Mine can be heard throughout the house and it's not even a large clock.

We always put felt pads on the dongers of our clocks - Dad didn't know, he was half deaf anyway.

      Very nice clock Fort.

Thank you very much racer4four. It may already have felt there as it isn't very loud. Not big on a loud clock myself.

Thank you for sending me the link. This is just beautiful. Did you get it to chime on the hour? I just love this!
    21. fortapache fortapache, 8 years ago
Thank you very much betweenthelens. It only chimes on the half hour. I can tell it is trying to chime on the hour.
I did get a universal key actually it is 2 keys. The usual universal key is star shaped with 5 prongs which can make it difficult to wind the clock all the way. My keys have 4 prongs so the other keys won't scratch the clock face and the clock can be wound all the way.

      It's a real treasure, that's for sure!
