I bought this 15 years ago at a antique store and I'm not even sure what it is. I just liked it. Any ideas?

The Chinese liked these to display their knick-knacks within. They might have opened this up with their morning prayer, tea, and song as they sat. A lacquered finish might indicate something from the early-mid 1600's onward. Waxed finishes are older. The type of wood is a good indicator of age as well.
