    A friend translated it to be 1277, which should be 1861 if I recall, from Egypt. Ottoman Empire period.
    He said the other side was a blessing of sorts.

    This is the coin that got me into collecting foreign coins back several years ago. I got it for a quarter.

    It's not valuable, but it's a favourite.

    I years ago figured out the denomination but have forgotten. Anyone know?

      2 in mint condition sold for $60 in a British auction several years ago when I figured out what it was.

      Every little bit of wear, spot of corrosion, and little scratch drive value down.
