I had a bit of time on my hands over Christmas so I hit some antique stores, flea markets, thrift shops, etc and had a bit of luck. The first find was a Palica wall trunk I found at an antique mall in Illinois when I was visiting family. It's in pretty good shape except someone did a redo job on it sometime ago that included some bright red quilted fabric inside and white paint with a bit of "antiquing". I was interested in it when I first saw it since it's a nice looking little trunk and it looked to be in decent shape then I noticed it was a Palica wall trunk and I thought, wow, cool. I checked out the price and they were only asking 25 dollars for it and they had a 20% off sale going on so I grabbed it and headed for the register. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have to worry about what to do with this one though from the way my Mom was checking it out I think she would be pretty tickled to get this for a birthday or Christmas.
Wow!! What a deal FatBoy!! That is a really awesome trunk you have there. I've yet to come across any Wall trunks in my area. But, still looking. Incredible find!!!
It has good bones as they say. Shame they painted it and put a strange handle on
it.But It was a steal for that price.
jscott0363, I'm surprised you don't run across them. I've seen a few Duguid wall trunks around here and the occasional Secors. It would seem like some would have gone a bit more south. Oh well, never can tell what you'll come across it seems.
Drill, the paint job is really awful, reminds me of something people used to do in the 70s. My Dad called it "antiquing", I didn't think it looked that good back then either.
Thanks for the comments and the loves folks.
