I was thrilled to find this hard stone portrait cameo in a price I could afford! The detail in the face and hair is just amazing. Best of all its engraved 'Emily' and 'sept 2 1866'

Not sure why the photos came out sideways ????
Seems like almost every time someone goes straight to our site instead of dwn/ldg in to a pc & taking control, this happens. I don't clk. on most inverted posts.
When you view it in your puters photo viewer, and you change the orientation - you must SAVE the change! Or just take a portrait (as opposed to landscape) photo - don't turn the camera sideways, keep it upright.
AND it's at least 14K gold. That's a stunner.
I actually used my phone to take the picture this time, and it's oriented correctly there so not sure what happened. i need to test the metal but it does look to be about 14 kt, thanks!
What a superb carving! I love the inscription on the mount too, Emily was lucky to own it then... and now you're the lucky one!!!
In case anyone was wondering, this is Michelangelo, one of the Notable Italians who were such popular cameo subjects.
Michelangelo? Thats great information, thanks!
Beautiful item. Just out of interest what did it cost ? Neil
I dont remember any more, but for me it wasnt cheap ;P
