This thread worn and slightly frayed blanket be worthless, but it made me smile and I thought it might make other people my age remember and smile as well.
The TV show Laugh-In ran from 1968 till 1973. In one portion of the show, between sketches there were brief moments of the Sock-It-To-Me girl, dancing in a bikini with slogans painted on her.
I purchased this beach towel as a young boy, when the show was still running. I happened to buy it in Tijuana Mexico, not known at the time for its respect for intellectual copyrights.
The girl has been moved from stage to poolside, and looks nothing like a young Judy Carne or Goldie Hawn. Artie Johnson’s “Verrrry Interesting” has been appropriated, along with a grammatically corrected version of Flip Wilson’s “Here Come Da Judge.”
Yet another re-discovery from my elderly mother’s basement.
Very cool ! I never watched the show but sure remember it . Unique piece :-)
