I found this Belleek , Ireland creamer at a yard sale last weekend for 75 cents . It's design is of a woman holding the spout above her head . her hair a golden yellow hanging over her shoulders .a braided golden pony tail is the handle with her golden hair flowing down her back. It measures 5 inches tall and 2 1\2 at the base. Very delecate and translucent.
Belleek is very fine china. Great find!
Thank you racer4four. Is it true that there's not alot of it out there?
Certainly not as common as many of the English potteries, and although they have been in business a long time their output was not large until more recently.
This one is not terribly old, the mark is the 6th mark 1965-1980.
A quick search on world Ebay of 6th mark Belleek only 120 or so turned up, so there's not lots of it!
75 cents is a rocking deal! In about a year of going to local auctions in Phoenix, AZ I've purchased about 70 pieces (this one twice - 4th and 6th marks) and maybe seen 150 total pieces of Belleek (excluding other belleek like Willets, Lenox, et al). I can't recall ever finding one at an estate sale, yard sale, or thrift store.
The piece's name is "Undine cream". I'm guessing Undine is a reference to the nymph-like beings from ancient Greece era.
