This came with some stock of vintage crystals/stones, etc. Each are wrapped and on the outside of the main package, it was stamped "Made in Occupied Japan". In fountain pen, it looked as if someone wrote 'Button Backs'.
I'd just like to know what in the world these things are! I can't tell if they're plastic or glass. I want to say glass but I don't know. Any help would be so appreciated!!! I received several types of crystals and beads that I have questions about but am starting with the two I want to know about the most. Thank you!!
Ty so much! That's 1/2 solved..now if someone knows what they are, I'm set :)
Many vintage buttons from that period consist of two parts where one is inserted into the other, with the background piece more plain and the top piece more decorative or simply contrasting in some way - material, texture etc.

OH WOW KYRA! Looks just like these!!! TYTYTYTYTYTYTY! Thanks to all of you! Now...I'm going to figure out what in the blue blazes 'camphor' glass is. :)
It is named from the frosted look of camphor tablets :-)
If you were here, I would hug you. REPEATEDLY! LOL A friend gave me 8 of these-we both make jewelry for fun-and I was charged with finding out about them. I can't tell you how thrilled I am with what is-IMO-a 'treasure'! I am so grateful I found this place and even more grateful with all the help. Now that THAT is settled, I'm going to end up posting a few more of the crystals that came with this same shipment. I searched for so long, trying to find answers, that finding this place has been a miracle find. TY again!
Salome, thanks for the thanks and the hugs, and welcome on CW :-)
I would love to see your other treasures!!!
Those old components boxes are so exciting!
Would grab it :-D
You can mark it as solved :-)
