I know the wiring on this has age. I reckon it's a french electric oil style hanging library lamp? And that the shade may not be an original match as it has four floral designs on it and three mounting/hanging chains. Any information would be great as I'm a novice in this aera kind regards jr85.

The wiring and electrical parts (socket) should give you info on dating this Library lamp. It has a very nice frame and if the shade fits your decor then it's ok with this lamp. Frame looks like it's all brass so it's a plus for your lamp. RER

@LOUMANAL thanks for your comment do you think I should clean the frame or leave as found??

I would clean it...it certainly looks dusty. Cleaning brass is a no no to serious collectors but personally I would clean this one. The frame will sparkle. RER

I know the dust is easy enough removed but I'm tempted to shine it up !! Il leave it for another day I'm already in the middle of something else. Thanks again take care and be lucky. Regards Jamie.
