I was wondering how old this lamp is and who made them. This Lamp was one of many that my mom collected. This one came from an antique shop.

The lamp is all glass with a finger hole I suppose you can put your finger through it to carry it around it also has a mettle ring with a shield on the back that was all painted white I suppose back in the day it was pollished steel plate so it could magnify the light the lamp put out. This is about the only thing I can think of.

I can't see the font very well but these "utilitarian" lamps were very inexpensive at the time. They were made in the early 1900's till the 1940-50's and used in barns, camps etc.. They hung on posts or walls and the handle came handy when you had to take them with you to the outhouse. Most of these did not have handles and the reflector was made of corrugated tin. The chimney you have on it is a very new replacement. Some of the glass fonts has an impressed mark under-base to identify the maker. RER
