      I have bitten the bullet! I have dismantled the door and decided to sand back to wood and polish up the bells and front plate! Fingers crossed

      Your 1930's home subscriber apparatus GPO #20 was used by butlers and secretaries to transfer one telephone line to two extensions. This was provide by the General Post Office in the United Kingdom which provided telephone service in the UK

      That would make sense as it came from a well established hotel in Dublin which dates back to 1820's I just love the look of it and how it was put together thanks for the information @ttomtucker
