    katherines…
    (247 items)

So I don't know whether this is considered a production vase or art pottery. It is hand painted, seems to be hand thrown as well, no mold lines that I could find, and the rim is slightly uneven. The base is stamped Made in Austria HAAG, or NAAG, or WAAG, with what I assume is the model number. There is also a stamped red R and under that something else is incised not sure if letters or numbers or what. The vase decor seemed familiar to me, may have seen a vase like this before somewhere, perhaps here. Does anyone have any information to share about this vase? I hope you enjoyed seeing it, and thanks for looking.

OGF, bingo, exact same maker! But who is the maker? Still no clue! :) It's funny but I could have sworn I've seen this pottery here on CW. Hmmm. :)

I love the painting here - and such a great picture.
I think it is WAAG, an area of Austria.

Thanks, Karen, yes, WAAG does seem to be a place in Austria. It's a cute painting! :)

Thanks, Sean, for the compliment! :)

A bigger mystery! I tracked this to G.S. Zell (1907 - 1928), but the mark doesn't match any of their marks. In that period, however, wares were shipped unbranded, and customers would brand as they chose. So could be this was sold and branded as Austrian when in fact G.S. Zell was a German potter.

This seller has had the same experience:

Thanks very much for the link, mp.kunst, I saw the shape of the vase in that picture with the cupboard full of Zell, different painted scene, but yes, this is surely Zell. It's a lovely line of pottery. :)

There's alot of confusion here! Some claiming with certainty certain Mark's while other doing the same with different opinions! I say its HAAG! Did everyone every concur??

apostata, you are certainly well traveled!

tharless62, apologies for missing your comment all this long time ago, I hadn't been on the site in quite a while. And apologies again, as I'm not sure I understand your comment or question. I believe it was settled that this was HAAG, the only difference came in Racer4Four's comment that it could have possibly been referring to an area in Austria known as WAAG. The letters are so hard to make out, as I wrote in my initial post, very easy to confuse the word, and that's why I asked for help and appreciate every one's efforts.
