Just got this one, thought it was really neat. A smaller sign at just around 15.5" by 10" its just glass with no frame. It did come with a separate franceformer with hanging hooks on it that was dated 1963. To be honest, I haven't seen a Gibbons sign of this variety before so I'm not too sure 1963 could be the correct year or not.
Maybe someone else has seen one like it before?
I've come across these Gibbons Beer signs before in various collections. I'm always looking to add one to my collection of old PA beer and brewery signs.
What you have here is a Gibbons Beer Neon Lighted Sign from the Gibbons Brewing Company currently known as the Lions Brewery located in Wilkes Barre, PA. The sign looks original and from the 1950's to 1960's era.
It makes sense that there isn't a cage around this sign, they were usually hung on the wall or in the windows of bars and taverns with a cord running to a sometimes hidden transformer. I have a similar set up in my collection from a Sunshine Beer neon from the Sunshine Brewing Company located in Reading, PA.
Very cool piece you have here! Take care of it, not too many of these have survived the test of time.
Thank you very much for the info, I just added a few more pictures now that I'm done cleaning it. The transformer that came with it looks to be original as well
