This is a photo from my father-in-laws estate. I suspect it was taken during WWII in England. There is a good mix of British and English uniforms including one British woman. Any ideas as to what unit or place? The photo is divided in two from left and right. Thanks,

There are US officers in there too, no ???
They have a different look ... More chutzpah???

US Infantry Officers Branch of Service collar badges ???

Yes the uniforms are all officers as far as I can see. The collar brass indicates that some are engineers and many are infantry. I would guess they are planning the bases for the many American troops that will arrive shortly.

Wow, not much to go on that I can see. I am thinking early after America's involvement. The ribbons and badges that would proliferate at the end of the war are not much in evidence. I THINK the gaiters were removed from this class of uniform and black tie replaced by khaki during the war, I'm not sure.

Some of those blurred shapes on the front of the British officer's caps look like Royal Artillery. Between the image quality and my old eyes, that may just be my imagination.

      Sorry I couldn't help more - Chris

Thanks Chris! I agree in thinking early WWII. Most of the Americans are only wearing marksman qualitications.
