    (80 items)

5" tall and about 6" across. I can't stop looking at it. I know enough to know it's not a pricy piece but it is so beautiful. There are many pieces on line with better pics if you want to google it. It's golden and amber and yellow and honey colors all in one little beautiful shiny bundle.
Thanks for allowing me to share my awesome Christmas present to myself. I hope you enjoy!!

** Update - It's not Murano but most here on CW are kind, informative and very supportive. See the posts for more info.

Interesting! I leave it to the glass experts to say whether it is actually Murano, for myself I love that combination of colors. :)

Look on ebay. There are other pieces with the same colors. I want them all!!
      Thank you Thomas.

Thanks Katherine. I am so tempted to peal off the bottom sticker but I'm not going to. I'm just going to cherish it. My daughter said it looks like the Burger King crown. ;0(

This was a Murano style in the 50s but I think this vase is fairly contemporary. There are many Italian glass makers not on Murano Island and they are able to make great glass and trade on the Murano name. I think this is one.
But isn't it just fantastic!! I love it!

Oh Wow!! What a beauty this is!!!! A most excellent Christmas gift to yourself!!

Karen and I are in agreement, the maker of this piece is trading on the Murano name, without this being actual Murano. Still, it is Italian art glass, and that is a great point in its favor! :)

Katherine and Karen. Thank you so much for your honesty, loves and Patience with me. It literally dawned on me in the shower this morning what you are talking about. Fake purses, shoes, art and the likes are everywhere. For whatever reason I couldn't wrap my brain around the idea of someone doing it with blown glass. It seems like it would be much more difficult to copy something than to create an original piece with glass. So many thoughts about why they do it.
Now, I'll just need your phone numbers so when I hit the lottery I can buy you both an authentic piece of whatever you want. :) Sorry to go on so long but I really really appreciate your support. :)

Unfortunately OGF this is not Murano and is most likely Chinese. This label, or a version of it, is quite common stating: "The Artwork is Done According to the Techniques of the Masters of Murano. Not Murano, but according to the... If you were to look under the label, you will most likely find a frosted base, which you can see peeking out from the sides. This is typical of Chinese pieces. It's a nice piece but not Murano.

Rick, your information is exactly what newbys need to know. I got caught up in a GW auction. I still love it but all total I only paid $18.00 and I think it's worth it. Your detailed information is so valuable and so helpful.
You seem to know how to explain what we don't understand.
      THANK YOU!!

It's a great looking piece, worthy. Enjoy. P.S. I buy myself Christmas presents too, I always get what I like.

I'm going to disagree about it being Chinese. Think it may genuinely be Italian, just not Murano. Not sure how you can absolutely verify that except to hunt for more of these sort of labels, or perhaps on a Murano collector site where they can tell you more about "fakes" which this isn't exactly a fake, since it doesn't claim to be Murano, simply made in the style of.

Thanks Katherine. I was really thinking of buying more of these pieces while I was in my giddy state of happiness. I still love it but I don't like the fact that I am buying something that may be produced in a bad situation. There was a site I think on ebay that had the same colors and exact labels. I got mine on the goodwill online site.
They are everywhere. Here is just one of them but they are not showing the label. I'll find it...maybe.

However thank you for your input and information.

I disagree with Katherine's opinion OGF. A common thread you'll find with the Chinese pieces, is the label as I already explained, the use of the term "cristal", the frosted "ground" base with its tell-tale ring surrounding it (see both base pics) and an over sized label to hide the later. Italian glass - regardless of the maker - be it Murano, Empoli or others - polish the bases of their glass and would not leave the bottom ground down in the manner you see. Here are some examples: http://postimg.org/image/v7cnvh6ut/ http://postimg.org/image/srauhmos5/ http://postimg.org/image/afk70hg51/ http://postimg.org/image/nv77pxomt/

Here is an excellent ebay article dealing with fake Murano. One of the points they make is about fake labels; "Some of these questionable sellers even print up, or obtain Fake Murano labels / stickers that they then apply to these Made in China items. This practice is used to fool you". Unfortunately, you can't rely solely on a label to identify authentic Murano glass, or Italian glass for that matter. Here's a post where I address fake labels: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/152009-murano-labels.

It's still a nice bowl, but it is Chinese. I hope this helps.

Katherine and Rick. Please believe me when I say I have read everything you both so kindly take the time to write. I appreciate it very much. I value your opinions even though they may be different. Bottom line is, you guys and others here are pretty amazing not only in the details but in caring enough to save people you don't even know from getting ripped off. It's a commendable quality that most of the experts here share willingly and free of judgment. "Just good people"
Want me to peal the sticker off and take another pic?

Your welcome OGF, it's my pleasure! I try to base my opinions not so much on what I "think" but what I've seen throughout my years of buying and selling Murano glass. I try, whenever possible, to support my opinions with examples. As far as peeling back the sticker, that's up to you. The only purpose it would serve is to see if it has the ring which you see on the base of the examples I provided.
