This is a real machete as opposed to a Sears Machete. The 1942 model MK-1made by Legitimus Collins & CO was made for the US Navy and Marines. It is longer, a bit thicker and more flexible than your typical army surplus store machete. It is a bit over 26" long.
The name KS Beatty is stenciled on the sheath which is reinforced with rivets. Could use a few more rivets but it wasn't meant to last 70 years.
In the last photo is a cheapo army surplus store machete.
I used to have one of these - same manufacture and scabbard - before I decided to focus on an earlier era and traded/sold off my WWII stuff to buy earlier stuff. I wish I held on to my machete.
Thank you very much Chrisnp. I think I will hold on to this one.
Thank you

Hi... I have the MK-1 1942 model which was gifted to my grandfather by Lord Mountbatten after the war. Thank you for the information.
